Super Visa

What it is
A super visa lets parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents stay for up to five years per visit, on a visa valid for up to ten years. It is visitor status only, with no work permission and no provincial health coverage.
Who is eligible
- A parent or grandparent of a citizen or permanent resident, applying from outside Canada
- A host who meets the income requirement (the low income cut-off for the household size) in either of the two tax years before applying, or who reaches 75% of it and counts the parent's own ongoing income toward the rest
- Private medical insurance of at least $100,000, valid for one year and paid before applying
- A completed immigration medical exam
The super visa has no annual cap and remains open while parent sponsorship is paused.
