What it is
A bridging open work permit keeps you working while your permanent residence application is processed, so your status doesn't lapse in the gap. It is open, so you aren't tied to one employer.
Who is eligible
- You are in Canada with a valid work permit, or on maintained status after applying to extend
- You are the principal applicant on the PR application
- Your application has passed the completeness check under Express Entry, a provincial nomination without an employer restriction, or certain pilots
The Atlantic Immigration Program does not qualify. Government fees total $255, plus biometrics if needed.
