WORK IN CANADA
Closed Work Permit
Personal advice. A strategy built around your circumstances.
What it is
A closed, or employer-specific, work permit lets you work for one named employer, in one job, under the conditions printed on the permit. It is based on a positive LMIA or an LMIA exemption.
Who is eligible
- A valid job offer from a Canadian employer
- A positive LMIA, or an exemption with the offer submitted through the Employer Portal
- The qualifications and experience the job requires
- No inadmissibility, and proof you will leave Canada when the permit ends
Changing employers generally means applying for a new permit.
