Visitor Visa
Personal advice. A strategy built around your circumstances.
What it is
A visitor visa (temporary resident visa) lets citizens of visa-required countries, such as Iran, India and Nigeria, travel to Canada for tourism, family visits or short business trips. The border officer decides how long you can stay, usually up to six months, and the visa doesn't allow you to work.
Who is eligible
- A valid passport and a genuine, temporary reason to visit
- Enough money for the trip and your stay
- Ties to your home country, such as work, family or property, that show you will return
- No criminal or medical inadmissibility
Ten-year visas are no longer the default. The officer decides the entry type and how long the visa is valid.
