PERMANENT RESIDENCE
Express Entry
Personal advice. A strategy built around your circumstances.
What it is
Express Entry is IRCC's online system for three federal economic programs. You create a profile and receive a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score, and the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence in regular draws. Some draws are open to everyone; others target specific occupations or French speakers.
Who is eligible
- Federal Skilled Worker Program: one year of continuous skilled work (TEER 0 to 3) in the last 10 years, CLB 7, an assessed education, 67 points on the selection grid and proof of funds
- Canadian Experience Class: one year of skilled Canadian work in the last three years, with CLB 7 for TEER 0 and 1 or CLB 5 for TEER 2 and 3; work done during full-time study doesn't count
- Federal Skilled Trades Program: two years in a skilled trade in the last five years, a job offer or Canadian certificate of qualification, and CLB 5 in speaking and listening
- Ranking: candidates in high-wage occupations earn extra points for Canadian experience or a qualifying job offer, and job offers no longer need an LMIA
